Forrest Fisher | There are days when you wake up with a feeling that something good is about to happen. That was exactly how I felt during the 70th anniversary conference of the Association of Great Lakes Outdoor Writers, held at the Niagara Crossing Hotel and Spa in Lewiston.
My wife of 57 years (Fern) and I entered the hotel lobby to register and check in, and immediately found ourselves surrounded by laughter, conversation and the familiar buzz of old friends reuniting. More than 150 outdoor communicators, plus many outdoor gear manufacturers, had arrived from across the country, and there was plenty of catching up to do. You might need to know that a gathering of outdoor writers is never short on stories – even before anyone gets outdoors.
