Tennessee lawmakers eye new funding model for wildlife agency

By Richard Simms | NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The gavel falls Tuesday for lawmakers in Nashville, and with it, a fight quietly brewing over who pays to protect Tennessee’s wild places.

For ninety days, 33 Senators (27 Republican, 6 Democrat) and 99 Representatives (75 Republicans, 24 Democrats) will ponder and argue over what new laws the Volunteer State needs, or doesn’t need.
