VENICE, Louisiana – Capt. Brandon Ballay dropped the trolling motor into the water and eased in toward the small oil rig. As he grew closer, the captain spotted a fish that rolled up on its side under the bright Louisiana midday sun. Momentarily the fish resembled a very large turkey platter!
“There’s one,” exclaimed Capt. Ballay. “Cast beyond the rig and then reel it back to it, then stop it.”
Ed McCoy did as instructed and his dead shrimp, hanging 2 feet beneath a float, slowly sank. A few seconds later the bright florescent green float disappeared slowly beneath the surface. McCoy set the hook with a vengeance and that’s when pandemonium broke out!
