Steelhead’s American-Made Handgun Lockers & Lockboxes Accommodate Modern Duty Guns

Shakopee, MN (July 20, 2026) More Made-in-USA handgun storage options to secure modern
duty guns are now available from Steelhead Outdoors. The line includes innovatively
engineered, stackable vertical and horizontal door handgun lockers, portable lockboxes and
beefy tethering cables.

Built to accommodate modern duty guns with lights and optics, as well as a backup gun,
Steelhead lockers can replace and update smaller lockers installed in sallyport areas. Steelhead
Outdoors Vertical Door Handgun Lockers stack easily without doors interfering with adjacent
lockers. The simplified design which allows for wall mounting and stacking is meant to be
expandable as needed. Or use the locker to store ammo within a safe or near a safe. The
handgun locker features the same high security key lock found on Steelhead’s HD Key Lock

Steelhead Outdoors has also engineered a large, horizontal handgun locker based on the
needs of local law enforcement agencies. The unit weighs over 13.5 pounds and comes in at
11.5” wide x 6.75” tall x 11” deep. Formed and welded from 14-gauge steel with a 10-gauge
door, the Steelhead handgun locker features a premium key lock with a unique multi-side bars
design that makes picking with traditional tools all but impossible. The lock has 6 billion key
combinations and features a drill-resistant body. This lock style is more secure and pick
resistant than tubular and traditional wafer locks that are found on almost all other lockboxes. A
double shear lock mechanism provides increased pry-resistance. It’s available in a durable
black textured powder coat finish with a charcoal grey key surround. The base features a layer
of 3/8” foam to protect stowed firearms. The large size locker will fit 1-2 handguns and can
accommodate large pistols with attachments and can be configured to create storage banks

Steelhead Outdoors’ heavy-duty, portable lockboxes are available in two sizes. The large HD
Lockbox will accommodate a large handgun or two compact handguns. The Large HD Pistol
Box measures 8.5” wide x 11” long x 3” tall and weighs just over 11 lbs. Suggested retail $190

The Small HD Pistol Box and Large HD Pistol Box feature a high-end key lock with a unique
multi-sidebar arrangement that makes picking with traditional tools all but impossible. The lock
has 6 billion key combinations and features a hardened drill-resistant body. This lock style is
more secure and pick resistant than tubular and traditional wafer locks that are found on almost
all other lockboxes. Steelhead engineers incorporated a double shear lock mechanism to
provide increased pry support. Formed and welded entirely from heavy duty 12-gauge steel,
Steelhead HD lock boxes are 75-160% thicker than most competitors who manufacture
overseas using 16–20-gauge steel. Two keys are included.

Massive ¼”” hinges are staked, welded and feature an integrated pin guard to prevent punch
attacks. Steelhead’s hinges are twice as thick as most hinges. Steelhead lock boxes come in a
durable black textured powder coat finish with a charcoal grey handle. The lock box bottom
features two layers of 3/8” foam to fine tune the gun fitment, while the top includes thick,
compressible convoluted foam to hold firearms firmly in place.

Steelhead’s Drifter 1 & 2 lock boxes feature Steelhead quality engineering and construction at
an affordable price. Steelhead Drifter 1 lock boxes and the larger Drifter 2 Steelhead Drifter lock
boxes safely stow firearms when in transport.

The Steelhead Drifter 2 pistol lock box is a secure, lightweight storage solution measuring 8.5
inches wide, 11 inches long, and 3 inches high, weighing just 6.5 pounds. Designed to store 2
handguns or larger optics, it’s 2” wider and 1” longer than the Drifter 1. The TSA-Compliant
Drifter lock boxes feature keyed-entry and are built with 16-gauge formed and TIG-welded cold
rolled steel, ¼” staked and welded hinges, double shear lock mechanism and a high-security
anti-pick lock. The Drifter 2 lockbox is available for $109 USD* and includes three keys.

Steelhead lock boxes base features four holes to allow for anchoring. A cable accessory can
be used to secure the lock box within a vehicle or other settings. The optional Steelhead 3’
security cable or 6’ XL cable accessory is American-made featuring a heavy duty ¼” 7×9
galvanized cable coated in nylon to 5/16” thick and rated to 6,000 lbs. The Steelhead cable is
thicker than competitor cables and helps deter thieves. To provide universal attachment the
cable has a loop on one end and a stopper button on the other end which attaches to the
