Delta-supported Duck Stamp Modernization Act Passes U.S. House

Passed by a unanimous voice vote, H.R. 2872 would allow the use of electronic Federal Duck Stamps for the duration of waterfowl seasons

BISMARCK, NORTH DAKOTA — Delta Waterfowl applauds passage of the Duck Stamp Modernization Act (H.R. 2872) by the U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2023. The bill provides U.S. waterfowlers with the flexibility of possessing a physical Duck Stamp or an electronic stamp on their smart phones while hunting ducks and geese.

Passed by a voice vote indicating overwhelming bipartisan support, the bill was sponsored by Rep. Garret Graves, R-La., and Rep. Mike Thompson, D-Calif.

“The Duck Stamp Modernization Act brings America’s celebrated Duck Stamp program into the 21^st century, ensuring its continued legacy as one of the world’s most effective and efficient wetland conservation tools while also creating a seamless process for duck hunters,” said John Devney, chief policy officer for Delta Waterfowl. “We’d especially like to thank Reps.
