By Roy Heilman | A few years back, I realized I’d managed to harvest every species of grouse in Minnesota: ruffed, spruce, sharp-tailed, and prairie chicken. In my mind, I called it the “Minnesota Grouse Slam.” My only regret was that I didn’t realize I’d done it until it was over. I’m sure I would have appreciated it more if I’d thought about it ahead of time and pursued it purposefully.
